Maruti shares trip on worker trouble

The market has reacted sharply to the strike called at Maruti’s plant in Manesar. The stock was down 6.47 per cent at Rs 1,145 on the BSE at 10.14 am. The stock closed the session yesterday at Rs 1,224.30 and opened on a weak note at Rs 1,175.

The weighted average price of the stock is Rs 1,148.74.

The plant was closed yesterday after violence broke out between workers and the managerial staff. One person was killed and about 90 injured in the incident.

In FY 2011-12, the company reported revenues of Rs 35,587.09 crore and a net profit of Rs 1,635.14 crore.
