Reliance Defence & Engineering Ltd (RDEL) has emerged as the lowest bidder to build 14 fast-patrol vessels for the Coastguard, valued at ₹920 crore.
The vessels will be designed in-house and built at the company’s Pipavav Shipyard.
A senior RDEL official confirmed that the company has emerged as the lowest bidder and is hopeful of signing the contract soon.
Reliance has also won a ₹300-crore contract for the refit of three naval warships (survey ship INS Jamuna, fleet tanker INS Deepak and patrol vessel INS Savitri) at Pipavav. The refit is expected to be completed by April next year.
