The Chennai-based Accord Metropolitan hotel group is on an expansion spree.
The company, that operates a 162-room five star hotel in Chennai, has added two properties in the last couple of months – a resort in Ooty and a 110-room five-star hotel in Puducherry.
In addition, it plans to have one more hotel in Chennai. According to Mr S. Venkatesh Bhat, CEO of the company, it has acquired a land parcel of more than an acre at Ekkattuthangal to build a 220-room five-star hotel. “As of now, we have earmarked Rs 100 crore for the purpose,” he said.
Global expansion too seems to be on the cards. Currently, Accord is on the look-out to acquire properties in London, Dubai and Singapore. Confirming this, Mr Bhat said, “We are in talks with a couple of international companies in London.” He said the intention is to become a chain with at least 10 hotels in the next two to three years.
Besides, in a bid to revamp its food and beverages outlets in its Chennai property, Accord is close to bringing on board a global Italian pizza chain. It recently opened a South Indian speciality restaurant – Royal Indiana, which according to Mr Bhat, “is destined to be our flagship restaurant brand”.
