Sun TV Network’s Executive Chairman, Kalanithi Maran, and his wife and Executive Director, Kavery Kalanithi, took a small pay-cut last year too.
According to the company’s annual report for 2012-13, Maran took home a total of Rs 56.25 crore and his wife Rs 56.24 crore. This was lower by roughly Rs 75 lakh compared with their previous year’s remuneration of Rs 57.01 crore each. In 2010-11 their pay was Rs 72 crore each.
Maran is also eligible for a dividend of close to Rs 290 crore for 2012-13. The company declared a total dividend of Rs 9.5 per share of Rs 5 each, and Maran holds 77 per cent (30.3 crore shares) in the company as on March 31, 2013.
