For all those shying away from hiring an interior designer worried about the expense, here's the good news. Hindware Home Retail promoted Evok has invested heavily in a specialty retail format which will provide Design-to-Build services for kitchen and interior.
This, the company claims, will break the myth of interior designing being unaffordable.
“We want to break the myth that interior designing is highly expensive. Our in-house interior designers will aid customers in choosing the right products and visualise their custom-designed spaces at an affordable price,” Mr D.K. Jairath, Chief Operating Officer and Business Head, Hindware Home Retail, told Business Line .
3D visualisation
With life-like 3D pictures and walkthroughs of the house in which the chosen products from the Evok stores are placed, Design-to-Build helps customers visualise their homes. All technical drawings are taken care of by the company and the sites are inspected by experts at regular intervals to keep a quality and cost check, he added.
Unlike other home interior brands, Evok is catering not only to end-customers, but will provide similar solutions for condominiums, offices, hotels, malls and airports.
Stating that the company has invested heavily in the vertical, Mr Jairath said it has begun offering turnkey solutions on a small scale. “Currently, only about 7-8 per cent of revenue comes from projects. Going forward, we see this going up by 15-17 per cent with our specialty retail on-track.”
HHRPL forayed into home assortment retail in 2008 with the launch of Evok Mega Home Stores and an estimated investment of Rs 250 crore. Currently, the company operates eight stores across India.
Expansion
According to Mr Jairath it is on an expansion spree. It has just entered Maharashtra and plans to enter the southern market with its large format stores (EVOK Mega Home Stores) and specialty stores. Evok plans to open around 8-10 large-format stores and 9-10 Super Specialty Stores by the end of 2011 in Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities across India.
“We are planning to set up 9-10 'Kitchen + Interiors' store in locations like Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai,” he added.
