The 60th birthday party of Parliament was a big conversation opener on Twitter on Sunday. But it was nothing compared to Monday morning tweets when the only talking point on the social networking site appeared to be Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg’s 28th birthday.

Twitter space was getting clogged with birthday wishes as Indian corporates especially could be seen falling over themselves to tweet birthday wishes to Zuckerberg and sharing – in just 160 characters - how his site had changed their company.

Youth fashion brand Fastrack tweeted, “Happy Birthday Mark Zuckerberg. Thanks for giving us a wonderful platform where we can have an amazing conversation with our 3.6 million+ fans.”

Not to be outdone, Café Coffee Day tweeted, “We made 1.9 million friends on Facebook because of you. Thank you.”

AXN India in its tweet didn’t miss the irony that the man who rules Facebook was trending on Twitter! But the cake was taken by several posts from individuals who said they were tweeting birthday wishes to Zuckerberg on Twitter since “Facebook was so boring and they wanted more people to see it!”

Incidentally, while ‘Happy Birthday Zuckerberg' was trending till late evening on Twitter India, globally it was a rather shortlived trend.

But this is a rather big week for Mr Zuckerberg. Even as he laps up the adulation and good wishes on his birthday, no doubt he must be anxiously awaiting the birthday present that awaits him on Friday when Facebook starts trading on Nasdaq.

With the IPO expected to value his company at $100 billion, Mr Zuckerberg can look forward to more than a few billion dollars in the kitty!
