With an aim to popularise khadi among youngsters, the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) is planning to utilise its surplus land available at Delhi, Mumbai and Nasik for opening exhibition complexes. Khadi, which is losing buyers due to its high cost and lack of marketing activities, will be given due focus in the next 12th Five Year Plan by promoting it as an eco-friendly item among all age groups.
The strategy would include several interventions like opening up permanent exhibition halls, high value-addition and innovation in design, technology and product development, an official said.
