Mangalore Chemicals and Fertilizers (MCF) Ltd, which began marketing crop protection pesticides of other companies this financial year, is planning to sell its own brand from the next financial year.

In an informal chat with Business Line on the sidelines of a function to celebrate the completion of 25 years of the Wartsila power plant at MCF's factory here, Mr Deepak Anand, Managing Director of MCF, said the company has introduced crop protection pesticides in a small way through its distribution network in southern India.

The company is a distributor of crop protection pesticides of a few established companies in the country. The crop protection pesticide was launched in the middle of this fiscal, after the kharif season, he said.

“From next year onwards, we are we are planning to market our own brand,” he said.

Asked about the turnover of the product, he said after the company introduced the product in a small way during this fiscal, the turnover may be just over Rs 10 crore. “Next fiscal, hopefully we are planning to achieve three times of this year's turnover,” Mr Anand said.

SNF PROJECT

Keeping the growing infrastructure sector in mind, the company has started manufacturing SNF (sulphonated naphthalene formaldehyde). SNF helps strengthen concrete.

Stating that the company has a lot of hopes for the SNF project, he said the growth in infrastructure sector will create demand for concrete. The annual production capacity of SNF at Mangalore is 21,450 tonnes.

The company's scrip closed at Rs 36.70 on the BSE on Friday against the previous closing of Rs 37.35.
