Mahindra Research Valley, an automobile and tractor research and development facility from the Mahindra & Mahindra Group, was inaugurated today.

With an investment of Rs 650 crore, the facility is located on 125 acres inside the Mahindra World City, nearly 55 km south off Chennai.

There are 34 labs in the facility, which was inaugurated by former President, Mr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.

The facility has an engine development centre, a fatigue test lab, alternative fuels, passenger safety and polymer technologies.

The facility today employs nearly 1,500 employees, and will be increased to 2,500, said Dr Pawan Goenka, president, Automobile and Farm Equipment Sectors, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.
