Passenger car market leader Maruti Suzuki India (MSIL) on Tuesday launched refreshed version of Swift hatchback priced between Rs 4.42 lakh and Rs 6.95 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).

While, keeping the price range similar to the older model, the company has improved the car in fuel efficiencies in both the petrol as well as diesel variants.

Fuel efficiency in both petrol and diesel is improved by 10 per cent, MSIL said adding that the diesel variant has a certified (under test conditions) fuel efficiency of 25.2kmpl and the petrol version comes with a fuel efficiency of 20.4kmpl.

The petrol version is priced between ₹4.42 lakh and ₹5.90 lakh, and the diesel variant comes at ₹5.56 lakh to ₹6.95.

The new Swift comes sporty new looks accentuated with distinctive new bumper, stylish grille, bezel fog lamps and trendy alloys. The interiors wrap around premium trims with sporty silver accents add flair.

It has new stylish alloy wheels, premium upholstery, reverse parking sensor, intelligent speed based auto volume and Bluetooth connectivity, audio switch in steering wheel and electromagnetic back door opener, MSIL said.

“We have over 12 lakh proud Swift owners. The Swift now comes with improved fuel efficiency of 10 per cent and a rich equipment list like push start button, a 60:40 split rear seat, electric retractable outside mirrors and reverse parking sensor,” RS Kalsi, Executive Director Marketing and Sales, MSIL, said.

The new Swift is powered by the 1248cc DDiS 190 diesel engine returning torque of 190Nm at 2000 rpm and power of 75ps at 4000rpm.

The Petrol variant comes with 1197cc K series VVT engine that delivers a power of 84.3ps at 6000rpm and a torque of 115Nm at 4000rpm.

Several innovations by Maruti and Suzuki engineers to improve fuel efficiency include changes in engine hardware leading to improved thermal efficiency, reduced frictional losses and changes in engine calibration, the company said.

While the compact combustion chamber and higher compression ratio on gasoline engine helps to improve engine efficiency, the advanced thermal management system in diesel engine along with low friction engine oil and modified fuel injection system help diesel engine in faster warm up and lower frictional losses, it added.
