Carmaker Nissan Motor India aims to sell about 2,000-2,500 units of its newly-launched multi utility vehicle, Evalia, every month in India. The company, which is planning to launch 10 new models by March 2017, is also looking to ramp up its dealership networks in the country.

“Now, we are looking at creating market awareness for the Evalia. We are building cars in India and for India,” Nissan Motor India Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Takayuki Ishida said.

On Tuesday, Nissan Motor launched Evalia, its third “home-grown” model in India. Nissan Motor, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Japanese carmaker Nissan, also said it hopes to triple sales by the end of 2013-14. Last year, the company sold 33,268 units and this fiscal between April and August, sales amounted to 18,203 units.

“To increase the sales, we are also looking to increase our dealership networks to about 300 by FY16,” Ishida, said, adding, the company has 75 dealers in the country.

The company is also planning to launch 10 new models in India by mid-2017 to grab eight per cent share of the domestic passenger vehicle (PV) market. Now the company has six models, including the newly-launched Evalia.
