Coimbatore-based spring mattress maker Peps Industries is planning to invest ₹20 crore to set up a manufacturing unit in West Bengal. The unit will cater to demand for the eastern region as well as the neighbouring countries such as Nepal and Bhutan. According to K Madhavan, Managing Director, the Bengal plant will act as a finishing and fabrication unit with raw material being supplied from Coimbatore. The company has two smaller units operating at Delhi and Pune. Each of the two units has an annual production capacity of 18,000 pieces. This apart, its mother plant at Coimbatore has a capacity of 136,000 units a year.
