Reliance Retail Ltd (RRL) has opened its cash & carry store ‘Reliance Market’ in Salem, the fourth store it has opened in Tamil Nadu.

The store has been established in the Reliance Mega Mall in Meyyanur in Salem, which also opened on Friday.

In a release, the company said the newly opened Reliance Market would cater to the needs of not only the small businesses in Salem but also traders and business establishments, including hotels, in nearby areas. Established over a 45,000 sq.ft area, the store seeks to offer more than 8,500 products, with a significant portion of them sourced locally.

The store would stock products ranging from fresh fruits and vegetables to groceries, detergents and toiletries, footwear and electronic goods. More than 30,000 business partner members have been enrolled.

Randy Guttery, CEO, Reliance Market, assured the business partners that they would benefit from “strong returns with our one-stop shop” and it would provide “inclusive growth” to all of them by sharing benefits of its “strong sourcing capabilities, our relationship with a large network of vendors and our retail experience”.

Since opening its first retail store in November 2006, RRL has developed into a retail chain with more than 1,723 stores in 148 cities as at the end of June this year. The company, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries, has emerged as the largest grocery retailer in the country, the statement said.
