India's select but growing billionaire club just got a few more car models to choose from. German automaker Mercedes Benz, celebrating its 125th anniversary in India, has re-launched its super luxury sedan Maybach in the country.

Maybach 62, priced at Rs 5.1 crore, and Maybach 57S with a tag of Rs 4.85 crore will be targeted at the super rich in India who buy jet planes, said Mr Peter Honegg, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mercedes Benz India Pvt Ltd. The cars had been brought to the Indian market in 2004 but withdrawn in 2009.

“We were a little before time then, but today we are confident as India is poised to enter the global premium car market within the next 15 to 20 years,” said Mr Honegg.

Maybach 57S can attain speeds of 275 km per hour, while Maybach 62 can rev up to 250 km per hour.

Once an order has been placed, it will take the company six to nine months to deliver the Maybach car saloons, which can be fully customised according to the buyers' preferences. On request, the cars can be fitted with a partition, plus a 19-inch diagonal cinema screen on the partition. It also has the option of a camera to allow passengers on the rear reclining seats to keep an eye on the traffic.
