SAIL said on Saturday that its crude steel production grew four per cent to 1.13 million tonnes in July over corresponding period last year.
Hot metal production for the period was up six per cent to 1.2 million tonnes, while saleable steel output rose three per cent to 1.06 mt.
“The higher production levels got a further boost in July 2012, with improved techno-economic parameters,” SAIL said in a statement.
Blast furnace productivity, a critical parameter of production efficiency was up by six per cent, while energy consumption was down by three per cent over the corresponding last year, it said.
SAIL will announce its June quarter results on Monday.
