Workers at Suzuki Powertrain India Ltd (SPIL )and Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt, subsidiaries of Suzuki Motor Corp, called off their two-day long strike on Friday morning after an agreement was reached with the management of the companies.
On Wednesday, they went on strike in support of their colleagues at Maruti Suzuki India's (MSI) Manesar plant who are locked in a standoff with management since August 29.
“The management has agreed to consider our demands. However, if the Maruti Suzuki’s Manesar issue is not resolved, we will take our next step,” the Suzuki Motorcycle India Workers Union President, Mr Anil Kumar, told Business Line .
Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki India said its Manesar plant will resume production on Sunday as it expects components supplies to normalise after the end of strike at its subsidiaries. MSI said, however, that its Gurgaon plant will not function on Sunday.
The company had on Thursday announced that its Manesar and Gurgaon plant will be shut today due to supply constraints of engines from SPIL due to the strike there.
