The workers’ strike at Shasun Pharmaceuticals’ Puducherry plant continued on Tuesday. The strike began on Saturday with workers in the casual payroll demanding they be made permanent employees. Production has come to a halt at the Ibuprofen API and formulations manufacturing facility.
The company said it is in discussion with the workers and hopes to resolve the issue in a couple of days.
There could be a revenue impact this quarter, said a company official, adding that Shasun is assessing the possible loss from the production halt. The company hopes to make up for this in the next quarter.
The Puducherry plant has a production capacity of around 500 tonnes a month. Shasun also has facilities in Chennai and Cuddalore. The company share price fell 6.49 per cent to close at Rs 59.75 on the BSE on Tuesday.
