Uttam Galva Steels today reported over 37 per cent decline in net profit at Rs 11.16 crore for the quarter ended September 31 on higher interest and finance charges.
The company had clocked Rs 17.83 crore net profit in the July-September quarter of last fiscal, it said in a statement.
Total operating income of the company, however, grew to Rs 1,439.06 crore during the quarter from Rs 1,291.61 crore a year ago.
Net profit was impacted because of the higher outgo on interest and finance charges as it went up to Rs 77.74 crore from Rs 47.75 crore in year-ago period.
