Chennai-based VA Tech Wabag has bagged a $40-million contract to set up a water treatment plant in Tanzania, according to a company release.

The design-and-build contract is for the Dar Es Salaam Water & Sewerage Authority to set up the 130 million litres-a-day Ruvu Water Treatment Plant.

The project is funded by Exim Bank of India under the Indian line of credit. The release, quoting VA Tech MD Rajiv Mittal, said the company’s efforts in the markets in the sub-Sahara region have started yielding results.
