One of the largest thermal power facilities, Adani Group's Mundra Power Plant in Kutch, on Wednesday announced that it had set a national record by running for 600 days and counting, thereby surpassing the previous record of 559 days set by the public sector player NTPC Ltd.
Adani Power said Unit-4 of 330 megawatt (MW) of the 4620 MW Mundra thermal plant, ran for 600 days continuously and generated 4142.56 million units of electricity during the period. Previously, NTPC Ltd's Vindhyachal power plant had run for 559 days.
"The continuous operations of the thermal unit for such a long time is a huge feat considering the complexity of technology and scale of operations involved," said Gautam Adani, Chairman of Adani Group on the achievement.
Vineet Jaain, CEO, Adani Power, said a comprehensive operational excellence and maintenance programme has been institutionalised at all the plants to improve availability and reliability of the units and this has resulted in the uninterrupted operation of Unit 4 for 600 days.
Mundra power plant operates nine units, of which five are based on the super-critical technology with 660 MW capacity each and four are sub-critical units of 330 MW each.
Adani Power shares gained by over 0.5 per cent on the National Stock Exchange to trade at Rs 38.80 on Wednesday.
