The Ambani brothers, Mukesh and Anil, arrived today in their home town of Chorwad in Junagadh district, for the inauguration of a memorial of their father Dhirubhai on his 80th birth anniversary.

It was after a long time that the Ambani brothers were seen together in a family reunion.

While Anil Ambani arrived with his family in the morning, his elder brother Mukesh arrived in the afternoon, also with his family.

“The entire family participated in vaastu-pooja held at their home,” sources close to the family said.

In the evening, they will offer obeisance to their family Goddess at the Chorwadi temple, and many people from the village are expected to gather there, they said.

After the death of Dhirubhai Ambani in July 2002, both the brothers had made allegations against each other. In 2006, a formal split took place, with Mukesh taking control of flagship Reliance Industries, with interests in petrochemicals, oil and gas exploration, refining and textiles, while Anil took control of the telecom, power, entertainment and financial services.

The Dhirubhai Ambani Memorial would be inaugurated on Wednesday at the same place where the founder of Reliance group spent his childhood. A rented section of the bungalow then called ‘Mangarolwalo Delo’ was the place where he lived.

Dhirubhai had purchased the bungalow in 2002 which is now renamed as ‘Dhirubhaino Delo’

The family guru Rameshbhai Oza will formally inaugurate the memorial tomorrow in the presence of Ms Kokilaben, her two sons and daughters — Ms Dipti Salgaonkar and Ms Neena Kothari, among others.
