Apollo Hospitals has given a facelift to its dental care chain.

The hospital group runs 20 dental centres jointly with medical technology company Trivitron Healthcare in Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Kolkata, under the Apollo Dental Centre banner. Apollo holds 70 per cent stake in the Alliance Dental joint venture.

Apollo Dental Centre has now been rebranded as White dental clinics. The White clinics will operate in four formats – Dental Spa, Dental Studio, Dental Clinic and Dental Express.

While the seven-star Dental Spa promises to offer a plush ambience, the Dental Studio gives a five-star experience. Dental Clinics will be neighbourhood economy clinics; Dental Express offers “instant” solution for dental hygiene and pain management and whitening procedures – these will come up in hospitals, clinics, malls and airports.

The target is to have 100 White clinics across the various formats in 12-18 months at an investment of Rs 100 crore, said Dr Prathap C. Reddy, Chairman, Apollo, at the launch of the first White Dental Spa at Khader Nawaz Khan Road, an upscale location in Chennai.

White is part of Apollo's “sub-specialisation” drive. Apollo already runs diabetes and daycare clinics. It also runs dialysis centres in partnership with Trivitron, under the Alliance Medicorp joint venture. “There is a need for a separate banner for these centres to grow faster,” said Dr Reddy.

According to Dr G. S. K. Velu, Managing Director, Trivitron, the average break-even period for a White centre will be six months.
