Areva T&D India Ltd’s transmission business (a part of Alstom Grid) has signed a MoU with Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd to provide ultra high voltage technology for PowerGrid’s upcoming 1200 kV Ultra High Voltage AC (UHVAC) national test station at Bina in Madhya Pradesh.
PowerGrid is establishing the UHVAC transmission system to test the equipment before deploying the technology for commercial purposes.
According to the MoU, Areva would provide 1200 kV capacitor voltage transformers, disconnectors and digital current transformers that were manufactured at its Hosur and Padappai facilities.
The MoU was signed by Dr S.K. Agrawal, ED (Technology and Development), PowerGrid, and Mr Rathin Basu, MD, Areva T&D India Ltd.
