Ashok Leyland has entered the Tanzanian market bagging an order for 723 trucks, buses and special application vehicles worth around $ 36.56 million. The order from the Government of Tanzania will be executed by end of the current fiscal.
Mr. Vinod K. Dasari, Managing Director, Ashok Leyland, said Tanzania was an important market for it and this order closely follows other orders received from prominent institutional customers in West Africa.
Ashok Leyland has been aggressively expanding its network in the African market with network offices in Nigeria,Ghana, Malawi, Mozambique, Kenya and Tanzania, apart from offices in South Africa and Egypt. In 2010-2011, the company’s export numbers grew by 72 per cent to touch 10,306 units.
