Ashok Leyland has bagged an order to supply 2,200 buses to Sri Lanka.
According to a press release from the Hinduja group company, the Government of Sri Lanka has placed the order as part of a move to modernise its transportation fleet. The release said this is one of the largest purchase by the Sri Lankan Transport Board as the Government aims to improve the country’s public transport network.
Ashok Leyland will supply these 2,200 buses within the next six months. The release quoting Vinod K Dasari, Managing Director, said: “This is a huge order especially at a time when the domestic market is just about to bounce back. This order reaffirms our strategy to substantially enhance our sales outside India”.
