Audi India’s half-yearly car sales for the January-June period rose 43 per cent to 4,000 from 2,802 in the corresponding period last year.
Sales in June 2012 stood at 718 cars, up 76 per cent from 408 cars in June 2011.
The company said that Audi Q3 was the key sales driver in June. “We achieved 500 bookings for the SUV within just five days of the launch, of which 200 deliveries have already been accomplished. Seeing the tremendous response to it, we have opened the next round of bookings for 500 Audi Q3s and expect the same enthusiasm from our customers,” said Mr Michael Perschke, Head, Audi India.
Audi India plans to expand its network to 25 dealerships by the end of 2012 from its existing 19 centres.
The company has recently opened new showrooms in Coimbatore, Delhi West Nagpur and its second in Madhya Pradesh in Bhopal.
Last year, the luxury carmaker opened new showrooms in Delhi South, Chennai, Ludhiana, Surat and Indore. Further developments include Lucknow and Mumbai South.
