Audi India, the subsidiary of the German luxury carmaker Audi, is looking to maintain an annual growth rate of 20 per cent this year. The company intends to sell about 10,800 vehicles during the year.
“The growth would come partially from new products such as the Q3 (sports utility vehicle), and also from tier-II cities, where we are opening shops right now,” said Michael Perschke, Head, Audi India.
The company, which sold about 800-1,000 Q3s last year, intends to sell 2,000 this year. “So, 1,000 extra sales come from Q3 from a model point of view,” he added. The company, which has already launched six new products this year, would launch another 4-6 variants and products.
It would also expand its dealer network to 34 by the end of the year from the present 26.
In the wake of the falling rupee, Audi India would also increase the prices of its models by up to three per cent, to protect its margins.
On Tuesday, Audi launched its sport coupé RS5 in India, with a price tag of Rs 95.28 lakh (ex-showroom Maharashtra).
The RS5 sports a V8 engine and sprints from 0-100 km per hour in 4.5 seconds and has a top speed of 250 km per hour.
The car is fitted with the standard 7-speed S tronic gear box with the recuperation system.
