Bajaj Auto sales during December remained flat at 2.89 lakh units mainly on the back of a 12 per cent dip year-on-year in exports.

Thanks to better sales in the domestic market, the Pune-based motorcycle major posted a marginal rise in total bike sales which grew 1 per cent to 2,47,782 units versus 2,46,233 units in December 14. Commercial vehicle sales, however, stood 4 per cent down at 41,221 units.

The company took a hit on exports which stood at 1.46 lakh units, accounting for half of total sales. In the same month of the previous year, exports were 1.66 lakh units and had accounted for over 57 per cent of total sales.

On the BSE today, Bajaj Auto scrip rose around a per cent in the morning trade and a little after noon, the scrip was trading at Rs 2,523.15 per share, a gain of 0.12 per cent. The Sensex was down by 1.48 per cent.
