Bajaj Auto has posted a marginal increase in net profit at Rs 740 crore in the first quarter ended June 30, 2014, from Rs 738 crore during the same quarter a year ago.

The automobile manufacturer’s net sales rose to Rs 5,133.37 crore during the quarter under review, compared with Rs 4,808.73 crore recorded during the same period of last financial year, Bajaj Auto said in a statement.

Bajaj Auto’s exports revenue during the first quarter rose to Rs 2,251 crore (Rs 1,876 crore), while sales volume during the period grew marginally to 9,88,430 units (9,79,275).

The company’s cash and cash equivalents stood at Rs 9,255 crore as of June 30, compared with Rs 7,759 crore as on April 1, 2014, it added.

For the company, exports now contribute about 44 per cent of the net sales with Pune-based vehicle manufacturer exporting more than 3,84,000 motorcycles and nearly 58,000 three-wheelers.
