The deadlock at Bajaj Auto’s Chakan plant near Pune continues for the third week as the meeting with Maharashtra Labour Minister Hassan Mushrif did not lead to any conclusion.
The Union would be meeting the Labour Commissioner again on Friday.
“The Minister has said that the Labour Commissioner should intervene in this matter,” Dilip Pawar, Union Leader of Vishwa Kalyan Kamgar Sanghatana, told Business Line .
“Our demand is that since the company is not keen to increase wages, each worker must get 500 shares at the face value of Rs 10,” Pawar said.
“We are creating value of Rs 3,400 crore per year for the company. The Aurangabad and Pantnagar plants were by the employees. We also want to be part owners of the company. It will create a bond with the company,” he added.
The union leader also alleged that Chakan and Akhurdi plants have some of the lowest labour costs in the region.
