Biocon Ltd has appointed Arun Suresh Chandavarkar as an Additional Director and designated him as CEO & Joint Managing Director of the company.
Chandavarkar has been the Chief Operating Officer of Biocon since 2006. He joined Biocon as General Manager – Operations in 1990.
The board of directors took this decision at its meeting held on April 24.
Chandavarkar has a B Tech from IIT, Bombay and earned his Ph.D. in Biochemical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, USA.
A company release to exchanges said: “Under his leadership, Biocon has established expertise in diverse technology platforms spanning microbial fermentation, cell culture, chemical synthesis and purification to develop a wide range of products from speciality enzymes to active pharmaceutical ingredients to recombinant therapeutic proteins.”
