BookMyShow to manage 60 % of ticketing inventory for IPL-6

Online ticketing firm BookMyShow.com has tied up with six Indian Premier League (IPL) teams this year for ticketing solutions.

The company would be managing 60 per cent of the total ticketing inventory for the IPL 2013.

“We are associated with six IPL teams this season, managing more than 15 lakh tickets for them,” BookMyShow.com Founder and CEO Ashish Hemrajani said in a statement.

The company is the official ticketing partner for Mumbai Indians, Kings XI Punjab, Rajasthan Royals, Pune Warriors, Delhi Daredevils and Sunrisers Hyderabad this season.

IPL 2013, which would be featuring nine teams this season, begins on April 3 and ends on May 26, 2013.

BookMyShow.com recently tied up with SunRisers Hyderabad team, making it the official ticketing partner for 6 out of 9 IPL teams this season.

“With this development, BookMyShow.com will be managing 60 per cent of the ticketing inventory for IPL 2013, making it the largest ticketing provider this IPL season,” the company said.

Hemrajani said online sales have become an essential element for every IPL team with 85 per cent of IPL sales in high Internet penetration markets derived from online sales.

“Even low Internet penetration markets have emerged with 75 per cent of tickets sold online last season, showcasing a 35 per cent growth in online sales since its inception,” he added.

Besides, being the official ticketing partner, BookMyShow.com will also manage the on-ground operations for all six teams including strategy and planning, ticket printing with security features, ground sales, home delivery and cash collection.

The company has also tied up with leading brands including Cafe Coffee Day, BMW, Mercedes Benz in order to extend its reach among customers.
