As part of the Prime Minister’s call to affluent households to give up their LPG subsidies, S Varadarajan, CMD, Bharat Petroleum Corporation, spoke to industry leaders, asking them to join the GiveItUp scheme. Over 6.5 lakh consumers have already voluntarily surrendered their LPG subsidies, translating to a recurring annual savings of above ₹300 crore. This savings on subsidy will be used to provide clean energy in rural areas.
