Direct-to-Home service provider Dish TV for the first time reported a standalone net profit of ₹35.01 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2015.

The company had posted a net loss of ₹149.05 crore in the corresponding quarter in the previous fiscal.

In a statement, Jawahar Goel, MD, Dish TV, said that the company’s single-minded devotion to being the leader in the industry along with uncompromised financial discipline enabled it to reach the net profitability milestone. “We have turned PAT positive, both at the quarterly level as well as for the full year 2015,” he added.

The company’s revenues were up 18.5 per cent to ₹754.72 crore in the fourth quarter ended March 2015.

During the 2014-15 fiscal, the company reported a consolidated net profit of ₹3.14 crore as against a net loss of ₹157.61 crore in the year ago period. Consolidated revenues stood at ₹2,781.6 crore, up 10.9 per cent.

The company said it has introduced differential pricing after successful absorption of higher pack prices in Delhi, Mumbai, Pune and Kolkata. The company is now extending it to 38 cities covered under digitisation.

“As digitisation spreads far and wide, we continue to believe that there is sufficient headroom to further explore price differentials between key urban and rural markets. …we are confident that pack price hikes, higher HD uptake as well as industry developments such as initiation of packaging in cable will be key contributors to ARPU (average revenue per user) expansion going forward,” added Goel.
