Brookfield Asset Management has finalized the first phase of its strategic partial divestment, selling 1 GW of solar and wind assets in India to Gentari Renewables India
Brookfield Asset Management has completed the first phase of a strategic asset sale, divesting 1 GW of solar and wind assets in India to Gentari Renewables India, the company announced on March 5, 2025.
The transaction, structured in two phases, marks Brookfield’s first full portfolio monetization in India for its Renewable Power & Transition business. The initial 1 GW phase of operating assets has been finalized, with the remaining 0.6 GW expected to be transferred in subsequent stages.
Nawal Saini, Managing Director for Renewable Power & Transition in South Asia and the Middle East, emphasized the strategic significance of the deal. The sale demonstrates Brookfield’s ability to create and realize value while supporting India’s energy transition.
Brookfield remains a major player in renewable energy, with approximately 46 GW of installed capacity globally and a development pipeline of around 200 GW. In India, the company maintains a substantial portfolio of approximately 40 GW of wind and solar assets across various development stages.
The transaction is expected to unlock new capital allocation opportunities and reinforce investor confidence in Brookfield’s renewable energy strategy. As a global alternative asset manager with over $1 trillion in assets under management, the company continues to focus on long-term investments in real assets and essential service businesses.
