Consumer goods company CavinKare Pvt Ltd plans to take its salon business pan-India in the next two years. Overall, the proposal is to more than triple the number of outlets to 350 from the current 110 under the brands – Green Trends and Limelite.

Though majority of the proposed salon outlets will be franchised, the company will also invest over Rs 80 crore in the expansion.

At a press conference here on Tuesday, C.K. Ranganathan, Chairman and Managing Director of CavinKare, said that each Green Trends outlet will cost up to Rs 50 lakh and Limelite will cost anywhere between Rs 75 lakh and Rs 80 lakh.

Trends-in-Vogue, a separate entity in the CavinKare folds, owns the salon business. According to R. Gopalakrishnan, Business Head, the company currently has 103 Green Trends and seven Limelite salons, and majority of them are in the South.

“However, we have a small presence in Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata too.” The company closed the year 2012 with a turnover of Rs 50 crore, and the plan is to take it to Rs 125-150 crore in the next two years.

On whether the company would consider acquisitions , Ranganathan said it would not shy away if any good offer comes up.

He said there is a great growth potential for organised salons in the country, as people are getting more and more conscious of good looks and hygiene aspects. Particularly women, he said, are more aspirational and are spending a lot of money on facials, hair-care and skin-care services. “For us, almost 65 per cent of our income comes from various such services offered to women,” he said.
