Coal India posted close to seven per cent production growth in 2014-15 to over 494 million tonnes. The State-owned miner produced 462 mt raw coal in the previous fiscal.
Consumers, however, did not enjoy full benefit of higher production as over 10 per cent of annual production is lying on pithead as inventory in due to paucity of evacuation infrastructure and low demand.
