“Think differently, dream big and be unreasonable if you want to emerge successful in life,” was the message CK Kumaravel, co-founder and Chief Executive of Naturals Spa and Salon, had to offer.

Addressing a group of young entrepreneurs after inaugurating the NEST (Nurturing Entrepreneurship in Science and Technology) Business Centre at Ganapathy near here, Kumaravel categorically told them that academic success could be an advantage in the race, but it would not guarantee success.

Formal education can act as a support system, but not necessarily bring success in life, he said and cited the examples of Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and former Chief Ministers of Tamil Nadu such as Kamaraj, Karunanidhi and Jayalalithaa, who made it big without college degrees.

Continuous learning

Stating that the education system in India is not at all satisfactory, he urged youngsters to learn continuously.

“The adage ‘slow and steady wins the race’ no longer holds true. Think fast, think big, think ahead; ideas are not any one person’s monopoly. A reasonable man adapts to the world, but an unreasonable person makes the world adapt to his way of thinking. A single person can make the difference and that individual could be you. The quality of your life is in your hands; it takes as much energy to lead an ordinary life as it takes to lead an extraordinary one; so aim to lead the latter,” Kumaravel said.

Tech incubator

The city centre is part of Coimbatore Institute of Engineering and Technology (CIET) – Technology Business Incubator. Earlier, B Kaarthick, Chief Executive, CIET - TBI, said it is the only facility which is focused on Internet of Things. There are 15 start-ups functioning out of this business incubator.

The city centre – NEST CoWorks – would help develop the start-up ecosystem, considering the huge gap between start-ups and the ecosystem. “We will help on the product development front, in business development by helping the start-ups identify prospective customers as also on the investment front.
