Yoga guru Baba Ramdev has teamed up with Kishore Biyani’s Future Group to sell his Patanjali Ayurved products through the latter’s modern trade counters.

The two partners may also look at joint manufacturing.

Kishore Biyani, Group CEO, Future Group, said his company expects to generate sales revenues of about ₹1,000 crore through this partnership in the next 20 months. “We believe initially, we will get business worth ₹35-40 crore per month and increase it to about ₹80 crore later,” he said. Patanjali Ayurved, which has a wide range of FMCG products that include food, staples, nutrition and hair-care products, is to launch instant noodles on October 15.

Baba Ramdev said, “Our effort is to promote a brand that is made in India, for India and by India. We believe we can give tough competition to international brands. We believe Patanjali Ayurved will become a ₹5,000-crore business by next year March.”

Patanjali products will be available across Big Bazaar stores and subsequently through its other chains. Besides noodles, Patanjali Ayurved will be expanding into other categories such as juices, muesli, oats, and pasta. Baba Ramdev said the company also plans to offer branded organic vegetables and pulses in partnership with the Future Group. He claimed that unlike competition, which uses “cheap palm oil” to make instant noodles, Patanjali will use the “more expensive rice bran oil.”
