Getit, known for its ‘yellow page’ business listings, has logged into e-commerce with the launch of GetitBazaar.
GetitBazaar offers an online platform for small and medium enterprises to sell their products.
“In the last few years, Getit has moved beyond print into new-age platforms such as voice, Web and mobile for business listings. GetitBazaar is a step ahead. It goes beyond lead generation and helps businesses get sales orders,” says Kiran Murthi, CEO of this four-month old venture.

Currently, 4,500 sellers are registered on GetitBazaar.com, across 32 categories such as apparel, mobile phones, computers, consumer electronics, kitchen appliances, furniture and home furnishing. There are also industrial products such as chemicals, pumps and switches.
GetitBazaar hosts the sellers for free but it charges a “processing fee” of Rs 100 or 2.5 per cent of the order value, whichever is higher.
“Often small and medium businesses do not have even a Web site. They are intimidated by the concept of online retail. They are concerned about challenges such as payment gateway, logistics and delivery. We are trying to remove these pain-points by taking care of everything,” says Murthi.
The platform provides the sellers’ details such as e-mail and phone number for customers to get in touch with sellers for any customisation. The site also allows shoppers to rate and comment on the products. Interestingly, sellers can also rate shoppers. “This way, if any shopper has had a history of frequent returns, other sellers are aware of this.”
GetitBazaar has a 20-member team based in Noida taking care of technology, marketing and management. It leverages the 1,400 member sales-force of its parent Getit to get businesses on board.
Based in Chennai, the parent company has a database of five million businesses.
