Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages has announced that its factory at Ameenpur in Telangana has achieved 100 per cent LED lighting. This is the second factory after Vijayawada to have achieved the feat. It is in line with the company’s commitment to have at least 40 per cent of its energy requirements at factories met through clean and green energy by 2018.
Ameenpur factory achieved 100 per cent LED lighting over a short span of seven months resulting in a saving of 2.73 lakh units (KWH/annum) and reduction of around 151 tonnes in carbon footprint. Early this year, Vijayawada factory had reported 100 per cent LED lighting.
G Venkateswara Rao, Factory Manager, Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages, Ameenpur, said, “The factory contributes to a sustainable and green ecosystem. This has been a great collaborative effort. We are already looking at solar power as our primary energy source and now with 100 per cent LED installation, we are on track to achieve our sustainability goals.”
The company’s factories in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have started using solar power for their primary energy requirement. Ameenpur factory has 75 per cent of its needs met through solar energy, while the two other at Vijayawada and Srikalahasti have 50 per cent of their requirements met through solar power.
