Honda Motorcycle & Scooters India, the 100 per cent owned two-wheeler subsidiary of Japanese major Honda Motor Company, is set to cross two million two-wheeler sales this year, up from 1.6 million it logged last year in India.

The company plans to launch at least two more models during the year, which includes a 100 cc bike, a large segment in the country, and another scooter (the company has garnered a market share of 54 per cent in this segment).

Overall, HMSI has a market share of about 13-14 per cent in the country’s two-wheeler market.

HMSI is in the process of increasing its manufacturing capacity to 4 million two-wheelers a year with a new plant in Karnataka, up from 2.8 million production capacity across two manufacturing bases in the country.

Addressing a press conference here today, Mr Makato Yoshii, Operating Head South and West, HMSI, today announced the launch of CBR 250R in two variants.

The standard and C-ABS variants are priced at Rs 1.47 lakh and Rs 1.73 lakh respectively ex-showroom.

The company already has over 2,000 bookings. Of the 2.1 million sales clocked during the year, the domestic market is likely to account for 1.9 million, he said.
