Hughes Communications India has bagged a contract from Prasad Film Laboratories to set up a broadband satellite network.
This will be used to distribute digital cinema content to locations across Maharashtra, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala. Prasad Film Laboratories said that Hughes satellite IP-based delivery platform will help bring down the delivery cost per site as well as enhance the quality of transmission.
It will also help prevent piracy of content and increase its penetration in the country. Ajeesh GK, Vice-President of Projects at Prasad Group, said, “We selected Hughes over others on the basis of a successful pilot conducted over many months and unmatched expertise in running digital cinema networks.”
