Income-Tax officials conducted searches at the offices of the cement manufacturer Dalmia Bharat Enterprises and examined the books of accounts, according to company officials.
When contacted by Business Line , company officials acknowledged that Income-Tax authorities had ‘visited' some of its offices. They had examined the finance books and balance sheets. It appeared to be a routine check and work at the company was not interrupted, a senior executive said.
The Income-Tax Department has informed that the search has taken place in various offices of Dalmia Cements such as Delhi, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. This is a part of ongoing investigation.
According to a statement from the company, “Earlier today, the offices of Dalmia Bharat were visited by officials of the Income-Tax Department. This was a routine inspection in which we cooperated fully and are confident in our consistent compliance with all the statutory rules and regulations. For over 76 years, we have maintained the highest standards of ethics and integrity and continue to abide by the same.”
