American beverage major Coca-Cola on Tuesday said that India was one of the key markets that led volume growth in the Asia-Pacific region during the January-March period.

On the performance of the Asia-Pacific Business Unit in the first quarter, the company in its earnings release stated: “Unit-case volume grew 7 per cent due to positive performance across all key markets…The volume growth was led by China, Southeast Asia and India.”

On an investor call, James Quincey, CEO of the Coca-Cola Company, said that India, along with China, saw good performance in the Asian region. He said in the Indian market, the company saw buoyant performance by the sparkling beverage segment, besides strong growth in the juices segment. He added that brand Maaza was up strongly along with brand Minute Maid.

“Within Explorer brands, the company continued to capitalise on brands with edge, including Aquarius GlucoCharge, which has shown success in the fast-growing enhanced hydration category in India,” the company said in its earnings release. Coca-Cola India launched Aquarius GlucoCharge in May last year. “Juice, dairy and plant-based beverages volume was even as strong performance in the Del Valle brand in Mexico and the Maaza brand in India was offset by a decline in Rani , the leading juice brand in the Middle East,” it added.
