JSW Steel has said its crude steel production increased 13 per cent to 6.76 lakh tonnes in July against 5.99 lakh tonnes achieved in the same period last year.
Production of long steel used in the real estate and construction sector was up 24 per cent at 1.42 lt (1.14 lt). Flat product output was up 15 per cent at 4.85 lt (4.24 lt), the company said in a press release on Friday. Flat steel products are used by white goods and automobile manufacturers.
In July, capacity utilisation at its Vijayanagar plant was at 75 per cent due to shortage of quality iron ore, the company said. The company has a capacity of 10 mt a year at Vijayanagar in Karnataka.
Shares of the company were up two per cent at Rs 736 on Friday.
