Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation Limited (KSICL), a state government-owned company, is aiming to achieve turnover of Rs 100 crore in the fiscal 2011-12 with an expansion of its manufacturing unit.
The Corporation, which has a century-old manufacturing unit at Mysore is constructing another facility at Janapatnam in Ramnagar district, 90 km away from Mysore.

KSICL Managing Director Mr D K Rangaswamy told reporters on Wednesday that the first phase of new facility was nearing completion.
He said the Corporation grossed Rs 67 crore in revenue during 2009-10, and for the next fiscal, the target was Rs 80 crore. “We are aiming at turnover of Rs 100 crore,” he said.
Mr Rangaswamy said that existing Mysore plant has 139 powerlooms employing 871 people.
“The unit was started in 1912 and we will be celebrating the centenary next year,” he said adding that annually 75,000 sarees are made in this unit.
The Corporation makes silk sarees, shirts and other garments which are sold through 16 outlets.
The Corporation’s Sales Manager Mr S Philomen Raj said that it is eyeing sales opportunity during the coming `Ugadi’ festival when 23 exhibitions would be held across Karnataka.
Mr Raj said that Corporation’s trademark saree in which silver and gold threads are used has been a major attraction.
