The country's largest passenger car manufacturer Maruti Suzuki India on Wednesday reported domestic sales of 1,52,427 units of passenger vehicles in July, marginally down as compared with 1,53,298 units in the same month last year.

The compact segment (like Swift, Dzire, Baleno) contributed the most to the numbers with 74,373 units (63,116 units).

The mini segment (Alto and WagonR) sales were down 11 per cent to 37,710 units (42,310 units).

Sales of utility vehicles also fell 5 per cent to 24,505 units (25,781 units). The company sold only 48 units of the mid-size sedan Ciaz during the month as it has stopped production of the model due to new model coming up this month.

The company also sold 1,723 units of its light commercial vehicle 'Super Carry' during July as against 703 units of the model last July.

At about 11 am, Maruti Suzuki shares were trading down 1.51 per cent or Rs 143.60 at Rs 9,362.80 on the BSE.
