The country’s largest luxury car maker Mercedes-Benz India on Friday launched its 12th product of the year — CLS 300 d — at a starting price of ₹84.70 lakh (ex-showroom).

The new CLS is powered by two-litre, four-cylinder BS VI (diesel) engine that churns out 180 kW, which allows the CLS to attain 100 km/h from standstill in just 6.4 seconds. It has a top-speed of 250km/h, the company said.

The new CLS 300 d is the first car to incorporate the new Mercedes-Benz design idiom of ‘sensual purity’ in a stylish coupe body, it said.

The interiors of the new CLS have been enhanced with a high resolution 12.3-inch media display screen along with a digital cockpit with three selectable display styles and new generation telematics which includes the Audio 20 with NTG 5.5, the company added. “With the growing penchant for dream cars, we are glad to launch the most elegant and dynamic third generation CLS. Known for many firsts, the new CLS also pioneers the new design idiom of Mercedes-Benz, which is recognisable by its clear contours and reduced lines,” Michael Jopp, Vice-President, Sales and Marketing, Mercedes-Benz India, said.

He said there will be more line-ups for 2019 as well and product innovations will continue in the coming months.
