Drug firm Merck Ltd on Monday said its net profit rose by 29.06 per cent to Rs 25.80 crore for the third quarter ended September 30, 2012 over the same period last fiscal.
The company had posted a net profit of Rs 19.99 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 2011, Merck Ltd said in a filing to BSE.
Net sales of the company rose to Rs 181.20 crore for the quarter under consideration from Rs 163.41 crore for the corresponding period in the previous fiscal.
The company operates both its pharmaceuticals and chemicals businesses in the country. Pharmaceuticals business comprises of formulations used in areas of cardiovascular, metabolic diseases and vitamins, Merck said.
Shares of Merck Ltd today closed at Rs 640 on BSE, up 1.66 per cent from their previous close.
